Hockey trio to retire

Three of Ireland’s senior women players have announced their retirements from the international game.

Arlene Boyles, who made her debut in 1995 and has 122 caps, Karen Humphreys, who won the first of her 100 caps almost 10 years ago, and Tara Browne, who also first played for Ireland in 1995 and has 71, have all quit after playing their last major tournament - the World Cup - in Australia last December.

Meanwhile, women’s coach Riet Kuper will reveal the pool of players she will work with leading up to this autumn’s European Nations Cup in Barcelona in four weeks’ time after the conclusion of the senior interprovincials in Cork.
