Lewis wants London date

Lennox Lewis’ trainer Emanuel Steward has revealed Britain’s world heavyweight champion wants to have one more fight in London before he retires.

The 37-year-old is expected to take on Mike Tyson for a second time in America this summer, but he will then look to bow out with a bout against Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko on ‘home’ soil.

Steward told the Daily Express: “Lennox still regards himself as a competitive boxer. He wants to fight and he will fight again.

“But every time I speak to him he says the same thing: ‘I want to fight in England. I want to be among my people.’

“You have to bear in mind Lennox has fought almost all of his career on hostile territory, which makes his achievements even more remarkable.

“Lennox will take on and dismantle Mike Tyson again in June if Mike gets through his fight against Clifford Etienne next month.

“If Mike loses that then Lennox will tackle Wladimir, and I am sure it will be in London. He owes his supporters that, and I know he wants to end his career at home.”
