Frenchman Sebastien Loeb spearheaded a dream Citroen clean sweep in the season-opening Monte Carlo Rally while Britain’s Colin McRae celebrated his debut for his new team with a superb second place.

The 28-year-old banished the bitter memories of 12 months ago when he was fastest on the road but relegated to second by a time penalty to win by just over 38 seconds with Carlos Sainz completing the podium domination.
