McLaren pleased with sponsorship success
McLaren believe their success in attracting and maintaining existing sponsorship deals this season proves Formula One can still be a commercially attractive sport.
Several teams have been hit by the loss of key sponsors in recent months but the Mercedes-powered outfit have bucked that trend and this month announced a ninth long-term extension to one of their sponsorship contracts.
“We are always very pleased when one of our long-term partners extend their relationship with the company, a sentiment that is heightened given the current economic climate,” said team chief Ron Dennis.
“In times like these the need for organisations to differentiate themselves is further increased.
“This latest extension illustrates Computer Associates’ confidence in the West McLaren Mercedes team, the value of such partnerships and is a further demonstration that Formula One has not lost its commercial appeal.
“It is a clear indication that, as the sport moves into the new markets of China and the Middle East, the West McLaren Mercedes team and Formula One continue to deliver a valuable marketing platform.”
