Sainz signs for Citroen
Citroen have confirmed former world champion Carlos Sainz will join the fledgling team next season.
The Spaniard was widely expected to link up with former Ford team-mate Colin McRae and promising youngster Sebastien Loeb at Citroen – his only option of a full-time works drive next year.
The French team, who are preparing for their first full season in the World Rally Championship, confirmed his signing today after discussions concluded with Spanish sponsor Telefonica MoviStar.
Sainz has long been backed by the telecommunications giant, who will become an official sponsor of Citroen.
He will be co-driven by Marc Marti after splitting with regular partner Luis Moya recently.
