O'Brien reaches British Open third-round

Ireland's Fergal O'Brien has booked a place in the third round of the British Open after beating 11th seed Mark King in Telford yesterday.

The Dubliner won the match 5-3 and now faces defending champion John Higgins, who beat Steve Davis 5-2.

Northerner Joe Swail failed to progress in the competition after losing 5-3 to Jimmy Michie.
