McCullough back with a vengeance
Wayne McCullough made a triumphant return to Belfast tonight when he defeated Russian outsider Nikolai Eremeev with a fourth-round stoppage at the Maysfield Leisure Centre.
Las Vegas-based McCullough, who received a licence from the British Boxing Board of Control only in the summer after a two-year battle, took out all his frustration on his outclassed opponent.
The Irishman was prevented from boxing in Belfast two years ago after failing a routine brain scan – something which he disputed with the board, finally winning his right to fight after stringent medical tests in America.
His sights are fixed on a showdown with WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison next year.
