O'Brien beats World champion Ebdon in LG Cup

Ireland’s Fergal O’Brien has beaten world champion Peter Ebdon 5-4 at the LG Cup in Britain.

The Dubliner led 3-1 at the mid-session interval, but Ebdon rallied after the break to force the match into the final frame.

The battle produced four century breaks in the first five frames, but it took a scrappy final frame before O’Brien could set up a meeting with compatriot Gerard Greene in the last 16 of the competition.
