Barrichello chasing further glory
Rubens Barrichello will refuse to take the safety first approach in the United States this weekend as he bids to inflict another psychological blow on Michael Schumacher.
The Brazilian needs just three points in Sunday’s penultimate race in Indianapolis to be certain of finishing runner-up to Ferrari team-mate Schumacher in this year’s drivers’ championship.
But Barrichello insists his aim is to go all out for a win which would be another massive confidence-booster to take into the 2003 campaign when he wants to bid for the World Championship crown.
“It definitely looks good,” said Barrichello, who leads third-placed driver Juan Pablo Montoya by 17 points after claiming his third win in the last seven races in Italy two weeks ago.
“It’s been a good season even though at the beginning of the season I had a lot of DNFs (Did Not Finish).
“I had to work my way to win more races and to be challenging for second position in the championship.”
