Murray and Maybin called into hockey squad

Catherine Murray and Katharine Maybin have been called into Ireland’s women’s squad for the Hockey World Cup in Australia in November.

The UCD and Pegasus players, who have just eight caps between them, are part of an 18-strong squad captained by Cork Harlequins’ Rachel Kohler.

Karen Humphreys has also been recalled to the squad, which begins its World Cup preparations with three games against Spain in early October and Atlantic Cup clashes with Scotland, Mexico and the US later in the month.

Ireland face England, the US, Australia, the Netherlands, Spain, Japan and South Africa in their World Cup group.
