A brave bid to move to ninth ended with Michael Keohane having to rejoin the final race of the British

Formula 3 Championship at the back of the pack when he spun at the final corner of the Donington Park circuit.

The race was won by pole sitter, Bruce Jouanny from Heikki Kovalainen and newly crowned champion, Robbie Kerr.

Keohane, who began in 15th. place picked off several drivers en-route to tenth but a racing incident with Robert Dahlgren ended with the Cork driver spinning.

He had to wait anxiously to rejoin the race and had to be content with a place just outside the top twenty.

Mathew Gilmore was the best placed Irish driver, the Portadown man was sixth.

In the Scholarship Class, Adam Carroll went off on the first lap, his Sweeney Racing team mate, Billy Asaro took the class from Karun Chandhok and Clivio Piccione.

Meanwhile, for the second time this weekend, Matt Griffin was the top Irish finisher in the Formula

Renault UK Championship, the Cork driver finished seventh and Gary Turkington was ninth.

The race was won by Danny Watts, the newly crowned champion.

Lewis Hamilton who crossed the finish line in first place was demoted to fourth after a ten second penalty imposed for a jump-start.

In the San Remo Rally, Fermanagh’s, Niall McShea (Opel Corsa) finished eleventh in the Super 1600 category.

The Ulsterman was 25th. in general classification.

The rally was won by Gilles Panizzi (Peugeot 206) from team mate, Marcus Gronholm.
