Top three take pit stops

The top three in the Belgian Grand Prix have all gone in for their first pit stop.

Schumacher pitted for fuel and fresh tyres at the end of lap 16 and, although he dropped to second behind Barrichello, returned to the circuit comfortably ahead of Montoya.

The German’s brother Ralf almost immediately ran into trouble when he spun, although he managed to keep the engine running.

Barrichello then came into the pits for his stop allowing Schumacher to regain the advantage.

One lap later Montoya and Raikkonen both came in together promoting Coulthard into second ahead of Barrichello.

The Scot relinquished the spot within a lap as he turned into the pit lane.

Britain’s Anthony Davidson saw his second – and likely last – appearance as replacement for the rested Alex Yoong in the Minardi end in the same fashion as his debut as he spun into a gravel trap.
