Sweeney racing team in form at British F3 Championship qualifiers
The Sweeney Racing team claimed two first row places in today’s qualifying sessions for the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Championship at Oulton Park, Cheshire.
In the qualifier for Round 19, Finland’s, Heikki Kovalainen (Fortec Motorsport) continued his recent
impressive form when he claimed pole ahead of Portadown’s, Adam Carroll. Carroll’s off pole
position is his highest ever-qualifying place and the first time this season that a Scholarship car made it to the front row.
James Courtney (Carlin Motorsport) who returns to the series after his F1 test accident in Monza qualified on the second row. His main championship rival, Robbie Kerr is down on the sixth row.
In the qualifier for race 20 of the series, Robert Dahlgren, Carroll’s team mate, claimed a sensational
pole ahead of Courtney with another Scholarship driver, Clive Piccione, on the second row alongside first race pole sitter, Kovalainen.
Kerr, the Championship class leader, is on the third row.
Carroll is on row eight.
Unfortunately, Cork driver Michael Keohane withdrew from the event due to his father’s continuing ill
health.
