Carroll included in Irish team

The Irish selectors have taken a leap of faith by including Mark Carroll in the final team for next month’s European Athletics Championships in Munich.

Carroll failed to reach the qualifying time set for the 5,000m, but will still race at that distance.

David McCarthy’s impressive performances at the World Junior Championships in Jamaica have led to him being chosen for the 200m and 400m, while Karen Shinkins and Paul McKee have both been added to the 200m start lists.
