Frentzen scraps Jordan plans over legal technicality

German driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen will not race for Irish team Jordan in today’s French Grand Prix on the advice of his lawyers.

Frentzen, who failed to qualify in his Arrows yesterday, had agreed to race with Jordan after their regular driver, Giancarlo Fisichella, was hospitalised following a 150mph crash in practice.

"He wanted to do it and Jordan wanted to do it, but his management have stepped in,” a Jordan spokeswoman said today.

"They will not allow him to race because of potential legal technicalities."

Frentzen was sacked by Jordan mid-way through last season and is still pursuing a claim against the Irish-owned team.
