Harrison maintains unbeaten run

Audley Harrison has maintained his unbeaten start to professional heavyweight boxing with a points win over Dominic Negus at Wembley Conference Centre.

The 30-year-old Sydney Olympic gold medallist started brightly and had Negus on the ropes in the corner after a series of telling blows at the start of the second round.

Negus continued to come forward and, although he caught Harrison cleanly on a couple of occasions, he had no answer to his opponent's superior reach and power.

But the fight then sparked into life in round four when Harrison caught Negus with a blow to the top of the head after he had gone to one knee following a clean shot from the London fighter.

Negus was furious and lost his composure immediately afterwards, spitting out his gum shield and lunging at Harrison, catching the Olympic champion with a headbutt.

No action was taken against either fighter and Negus looked to take the fight inside in the fifth as Harrison appeared to tire, catching his opponent with a low blow.

The sixth and final round was a tame affair and although Harrison went for an explosive finish, catching Negus with a good combination, the knockdown never came.

After the victory over the 31-year-old security man from Essex, Harrison takes his record to six straight wins.
