Fraser out for season

Donna Fraser has ruled herself out for the season after failing to make the Norwich Union AAAs.

The Olympic finalist needed to compete in the meeting to win her place at this year's Commonwealth Games, as well as to qualify for the European Championships.

She has admitted defeat in her battle against a long-standing Achilles problem, and will now face surgery.

Fraser, 29, said: "I am going to have to disregard the Norwich Union AAAs and my view is that I am out for the rest of this season.

"I have to accept that I am not superwoman and make sure I have an injury-free winter. I will bounce back from this."

Fraser's injury means Britain's top two 400 metre runners are out for the year - with Katharine Merry another long-term injury casualty.
