Germany pile on the pressure
Brazil 0 0 Germany
After failing to register a shot on target in the first half, Germany could have twice taken the lead inside the opening four minutes of the second.
Neuville’s inswinging corner from the left was met by a diving Jeremies, with his header goalbound, only for Edmilson to intercept before Rivaldo then mopped up.
That was followed soon after by a stunning Neuville free-kick from 30 yards which swerved viciously through the air, but a full-stretch Marcos brilliantly pushed the shot on to his left-hand post.
Brazil soon responded as Gilberto Silva gatecrashed his way into the penalty area to deliver a downward header which was straight at Kahn.
The close proximity of the chance meant he was unable to gather the ball cleanly, allowing Gilberto Silva a second opportunity, only for the midfielder to stab wide.
