Clonakilty driver on front row at Brands Hatch
Clonakilty driver, Michael Keohane gave two outstanding performances in the Avon Tyres British
Formula 3 qualifying sessions at Brands Hatch today and will occupy the front row of the grid for
tomorrow’s two championship races at the Kent Circuit.
In the first session this morning, there was only a fraction of a second between the top six.
Considering it’s his home circuit, Kerr was expected to dominate, however, Keohane harried him around the Kent circuit and will join him on the first row for tomorrow’s race.
Championship leader, James Courtney, starts from the third row.
In the second session, Keohane’s qualifying form was outstanding.
Even though he missed the latter half of the session when the throttle cable of his Clonakilty
Black Pudding car snapped, his early form was enough to secure another front row slot.
His Carlin Motorsport team mate, James Courtney is on the secondrow.
Grid for Round 15:
1. Kerr;
2. Keohane;
3. Austin;
4. Van Der Merwe; Carbone;
6. Courtney.
Grid for Round 16: 1. Kerr; 2. Keohane; 3. Courtney; 4. Carbone; 5. Jouanny; 6. Van Der Merwe.
Meanwhile, in Germany, at the Formula BMW race at the Norisring street circuit, Michael Devaney finished fifth.
The young Dubliner will start tomorrow’s race (Round 10) from the third row.
