Spain to meet Ireland after win

Ireland will play Spain in the second round of the World Cup after they finished top of Group B after beating South Africa 3-2 today.

Raul gave them the lead after just four minutes, but Benny McCarthy equalised near the half-hour mark.

South Africa looked up for it but a sweet Mendieta free-kick from outside the box on the stroke of half time put the European team back on top.

South Africa were to equalise again but a second goal from Raul cost them a point and, ultimately, a place in the last 16.
