FAI want Mick to stay on

MICK MCCARTHY will be asked to lead the Republic of Ireland up to the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany, regardless of the result against Saudi Arabia in Yokohama tomorrow.

FAI officials admit they want to extend McCarthy’s contract beyond the European Championships in Portugal in two years time.
