O'Donovan wins Cork Rallysprint
London based Limerick driver, Ollie O’Donovan and his Cork co-driver, David Moynihan ran out comfortable winners of the Des Golden sponsored Cork Rallysprint at the Cork Showgrounds.
James Murphy (Escort Cosworth) was his closest challenger through the early stages of the five timed runs.
On the second run, top seed, James Cribben clouted the rear of his Group N Subaru and lost almost
a minute. Martin O’Connell (Escort Cosworth) was second and behind the top two, Eddie Kinirons (Toyota Celica) secured third from Cork’s Barry Coleman (Subaru).

Fermanagh’s, Kris Meeke in a Ford Puma was the top Irish driver in the Scottish Rally, the third round of the Pirelli British Rally Championship. Meeke won the Super 1600 category ahead of Meath’s Rory Galligan (Peugeot).
Robert Woodside driving a Subaru and Austin McHale in his Toyota Corolla WRC were sixth and eighth respectively.
Shaun Gallagher was the top Irish performer in the Peugeot 206 Super Cup.
Jimmy Lucey, from Ballyvourney, Co. Cork, netted a double in the third and fourth rounds of the Biotech National Autocross Championship in Mayo.
He was an easy winner over Ian Byrne yesterday and Ger Brennan today.
