Irvine drops out of Canadian Grand Prix

Eddie Irvine’s race has come to a premature end on lap 43 when the Ulsterman pulled his Jaguar onto the grass with flames licking out of the engine.

After lap ten, third-placed Montoya’s heavy fuel load was taking its toll and he lost more than a second a lap to leader Barrichello and Michael Schumacher in second.
