Best result in US history, says Arena

VICTORIOUS coach Bruce Arena hailed the USA’s brilliant victory over Portugal as the best result in the country’s history - better even than that famous defeat of England in the 1950 World Cup.

More than half a century ago it was Tom Finney and Billy Wright who were humbled. Yesterday, it was the world player of the year Luis Figo and AC Milan’s Rui Costa who were on the receiving end.
