FAI stands firmly behind Mick McCarthy

FAI TREASURER John Delaney does not believe Roy Keane will be asked to rejoin the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup squad in Japan.

The former skipper’s RTE defence last night failed to convince FAI chiefs a reconciliation was imminent: “The decision was made by Mick McCarthy and the players and I don’t see any change in that decision at this stage to be very honest. From what I’ve heard there doesn’t seem to be any change in Roy’s attitude.”
