Yesterday, he was consistently in the top four in free practice, but today his Clonakilty Black Pudding/Ibstock Brick liveried car went off the track with over a third of the session remaining.

His fastest lap time gave him ninth on the grid. His Carlin Motorsport team mate, James Courtney is on pole, his sixth in seven races. Ronnie Bremer is off pole.

Championship leader, Robbie Kerr is on the third row with Bruce Jouanny, equal third with Keohane in the series – on the second row.

There was good news for the Irish in the Scholarship Class with Meritus Racing pair, Northern Ireland’s Steven Colbert (pole) and Dubliner, Gavin Smith on the front row.

In the Manx National Rally, Kenny McKinstry (Subaru) is fighting his way back from a puncture on last

evening’s third stage that dropped him to 35th.overall at the end of the first leg.

With four of today’s ten stages completed, McKinstry is on the fringes of the top twenty. The rally is

being led by Melvyn Evans (Escort WRC). The winner of the West Cork Rally is 16 seconds ahead of Mark Perrott, also in an Escort. John Price (Metro) and David Mann.
