McDaid announces grants (Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois)

Dr. James McDaid, T.D., Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation announced

yesterday that almost €76m has been allocated under the Sports Capital Programme 2002 to 850 local, municipal, regional and national projects the length and breadth of the country.

This is by far the largest ever allocation by the Government for sports and recreational projects. It represents a €19.8m or 35% increase in funding over last year's allocation.
