Snooker: Stevens and Hendry continue seeds' joy
Matthew Stevens ended a run of three straight defeats to reach the second round of the Thailand Masters.
Stevens will meet Jimmy White after a 5-2 win over Anthony Davies.
And Stephen Hendry made it 14 out of 15 seeds through thanks to a 5-3 win over Barry Hawkins.
Leading 3-1 it looked plain sailing for Hendry, who had compiled breaks of 59, 88 and 50, but Hawkins refused to accept his fate.
When runs of 58 and 61 carried Hawkins back to 3-3 there was a distinct possibility that Hendry could bow out in shock circumstances.
But Hendry stroked in a long red to launch a 101 break in the seventh frame though and when Hawkins missed an extremely tough yellow using the spider in the eighth, Hendry cleared the colours to pink.
"Since I lost in China I've been relaxing in the sun down by the swimming pool but now it's back to business," said Hendry, who now faces Alan McManus.
