Formula One: Alesi to have McLaren test drive

Jean Alesi is to have a one-off test with the West McLaren Mercedes team after the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on March 3.

He will test the MP4-16 B, an updated version of last year's car, at a circuit yet to be picked by the team.

Alesi drove for both the Prost and Jordan teams last season.

He is to race in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) with Mercedes-Benz this season and has dismissed any chance of a return to the F1 circuit on a full-time basis.

"I have no plans to return to Formula One competition and am 100 per cent committed to my DTM championship challenge with Mercedes-Benz," said Alesi.

"However, a drive in a West McLaren Mercedes car was missing from my Formula One CV and I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
