The Government has confirmed that it will not make a decision on the future of the controversial National Stadium project this week.

Officials in the Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation said it will be next week at the earliest before a decision is made on the stadium.

The Progressive Democrats have dismissed weekend reports that the Tanaiste, Mary Harney, had agreed to support the stadium if it was scaled down from 80,000 to 65,000 seats.
