Formula 1: Jordan out-pace BAR in Barcelona

Jordan dominated Formula One testing at Barcelona, putting rivals BAR in the shade.

The two Honda-backed teams have a private battle and Eddie Jordan, owner of Jordan-Honda, will have been delighted to emerge on top.

Giancarlo Fisichella set the fastest time of the week with one minute 18.52 seconds, 0.6secs clear of F1 rookie team-mate Takuma Sato.

The Jordan pair out-paced Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer who was marginally faster than the Renault of Jenson Button.

BAR's Olivier Panis was next quickest ahead of his team's test driver Anthony Davidson, Renault test driver Fernando Alonso and the Toyota of Mika Salo.

The Renault team were pleased with the performances of their drivers with Renault technical director Mike Gascoyne saying: "We had a good final day testing with much better weather conditions than previously.

"Jenson completed a tyre programme and also worked on brake evaluation, but was stopped at one point by a suspension problem which caused him to go off the track, but despite that we got through the programme.

"Fernando started his first day testing with us and worked through a lot of reliability items and engine testing. He did a very good job settling in with the team.

"Overall we got quite a lot done during these past days in Barcelona and it is good to get back into the swing of racing."
