Liverpool outcast Sander Westerveld today moved to keep his international career alive by quitting Anfield for Real Sociedad.

On a day when FA Barclaycard Premiership leaders Liverpool were thumped 4-0 at Chelsea, the Spaniards - managed by former Anfield and Wales favourite John Toshack - confirmed the Dutchman was theirs to end weeks of speculation.
