Boxing: Tyson fight will be Lewis' swansong

Lennox Lewis has declared his intention to hang up his gloves if he beats Mike Tyson on April 6.

Lewis regained his WBC and IBF heavyweight titles when beating Hasim Rahman in Las Vegas on November 17 and believes a victory over Tyson would put the seal on his illustrious career.

‘‘When Muhammad Ali was champion there was also Joe Frazier and George Foreman at the highest level,’’ said Lewis at last night’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

‘‘In my era there has been myself, Evander Holyfield and Tyson. I’ve already fought Holyfield twice so Tyson would be the final piece of the jigsaw.

‘‘Once I’ve beaten Tyson, I’ll leave it to the younger guys coming through.’’
