Burger King Limerick got off to a poor start and the physical Vincent's side took an early 18-9 lead.

St Vincent's held a 10pt lead for most of the first quarter until the closing minutes when Limerick started to come into the game.

Limerick narrowed the deficit to six points at the end of the first quarter, but trailed 23-29 after ten minutes.

The second quarter was basket for basket with Limerick back in the game and taking the lead for the first time.

Limerick got into team fouls early in the second quarter but managed to take a three point lead at half time, 48-45.

Burger King Limerick stepped up their game in the third quarter and midway through the period enjoyed a 10 point lead.

Vincent's did not delay and came back, making the cup quarter final a two point game at the end of the third quarter.

Vincent's got into foul trouble in the final quarter, the fouling out of Mick Richardson and Mike Trimmer marked the end of their 2002 Cup dreams.

Burger King pulled ahead 95-87 with 4 minutes remaining and Vincent's could not respond.

Limerick went on to book their first ever semi-final spot by defeating Vincent's 110-95.
