Ronnie O'Sullivan produced fireworks on the way to building a 6-2 lead over Ali Carter at the UK Championship in York.

O'Sullivan, in search of his first title of the season, was immediately into his stride.

Jimmy White shrugged off the disappointment of a 147 near-miss to move into the driving seat against Marco Fu in their UK Championship second-round clash.

White goes into the evening session with a 5-3 advantage at the Barbican Centre in York.
