F1: Ralf Schumacher in motorway crash

Ralf Schumacher has reportedly been involved in a crash on a German motorway.

The Formula One racing driver is said to have been in collision with a line of standing traffic in his new BMW.

One woman was slightly injured in the accident in Cologne.

Police say he gave them his details and carried on his journey. He was on his way to visit his father Rolf and brother Michael.

Ralf had been at a motor show in Essen as part of his work for the company whose Grand Prix cars he drives.

He was given a new BMW 7-series complete with a driver for the trip home by the company.

The 26-year-old told the chauffeur he preferred to drive himself, taking the wheel on the trip through Cologne towards Frankfurt.

Guido Stalmann, spokesman for BMW said: "Ralf Schumacher had an accident on the A3. There were just dents on the front of his vehicle.

"Ralf was able to continue the journey with the damaged car after the police had taken details of the accident."

Local traffic officers said the damage to cars will cost about £10,000.
