Tipperary's Roy White (Mitsubishi) lies fifth in the Group N Showroom category led by Xavier Bouche, prior to the 10th and final stage of the first leg of the Condroz Rally in Belgium.

White picked up two places over this evening's stages and is on course to win the Group N series after the earlier retirement of rival, David Sterckx.

However, he must finish fourth in class to win the series. There a further 12 stages tomorrow.

In the Jim Clark Memorial Rally in Scotland, Peadar Hurson and co-driver, Ian Porter, took an emphatic win.

The Toyota Celica of the former national champions finished four minutes 14.5 seconds ahead of second placed Steve Fleck/Mark Aspinwall (Subaru WRC).

Another Irish crew, Tim McNulty/Julian Nangle (Subaru) retired just before the finish.

In the Formula Rally class, Martin Rowe, in a Ford Puma, took the lead with just two stages remaining and went on to win by 31.4 seconds from the VW Polo of David Higgins and his Belfast co-driver, Michael Gibson.

Dubliner, Max McKillen (Citroen Saxo) was sixth while Liam Brady/Greg Shinnors (Satria Kit car) were forced out with a broken driveshaft.
