Motorsport: White third in Belgium

Aiming to win the Group N category of the Belgian Rally Championship, Tipperary driver, Roy White, co-driven by Northern Ireland's, Michael Patterson lies third in the category after three of today's ten stages of the Condroz Rally.

White is 50 seconds adrift of title protagonist, David Sterckx, both in Mitsubishis. In order to win the national title, White must finish ahead of Sterckx and also claim more than two championship points than his Belgian rival. The category is being led by Xavier Bouche.

In the Jim Clark Formula Rally in Scotland, Martin Rowe (Ford Puma) has a 10 second lead over the VW Polo of David Higgins and his Northern Ireland co-driver, Michael Gibson. Dubliner, Max McKillen in a Citroen Saxo is sixth.

In the Jim Clark Memorial Rally, Irish driver occupy the top two places after the opening seven stages. Tim McNulty/Julian Nangle (Subaru) were fastest on last night's first stage but have since been overtaken by former national rally champions, Peadar Hurson/Ian Porter (Toyota Celica), who lead by 32 seconds.

Hurson posted fastest times on stages 2, 3 and 6. Steve Fleck (Subaru is third. Marcus Dodd, the top seed, withdrew before the start and local Scottish ace, John Indri, crashed out on the first stage.

At the end of the second leg of Rally Australia, the penultimate round of the World Rally championship, Marcus Gronholm (Peugeot) has a 32.8 second advantage over Britain's, Richard Burns (Subaru) Didier Auriol (Peugeot) is third from Harri Rovanpera, Colin McRae and Tommi Makinen.

Francois Delecour crashed on S.S. 14, his co-driver, Daniel Grataloup was taken to hospital after sustaining a number of injuries, he is expected to be released in a few days.

Tomorrow's Rallycross at Mondello Park has been cancelled due to lack of entries.
