Snooker: Doherty reaches 3rd round of British Open

Ireland’s Ken Doherty has progressed to the third round of the British Open snooker championship after beating Jonathan Birch 5-2 this afternoon.

The Dubliner, currently number four in the world rankings, was tied at 2-2 at the interval, but he took three frames in a row to set up a meeting with either Alan McManus or Quentin Hann.
