Formula 1: Trulli stripped of fourth-place finish

Jarno Trulli has been stripped of his fourth-place finish at the United States Grand Prix.

Trulli's Jordan car was found to be outside the FIA regulations in post-race scrutineering.

The 'skid block' or 'plank' underneath the car had worn down to 7.5mm thickness, which is 1.5mm less than the limit allowed. Jordan have said they will appeal against the decision.

The Italian's disqualification means that Jaguar's Eddie Irvine is promoted to fourth place, with Sauber's Nick Heidfeld fifth.

Ironically, Trulli's Jordan team-mate Jean Alesi now picks up a point after being moved up to sixth place.

Jordan will appeal, and a statement released by the team read: "(We) will be appealing against the decision of the Stewards of the Meeting, to exclude car number 11 (Jarno Trulli) from the Official Race Classification of the United States Grand Prix."
