Motorsport: Rallying returns to Tipp
Tomorrow's Clonmel Arms Hotel Tipperary Stonethrowers Rally is the first tarmac stages rally to take place since the foot-and-mouth restrictions have been lifted.
A capacity entry of 130 crews, will be led by Frank Meagher (Ford Focus WRC), the local Tipperary driver has won the event a remarkable eight times.
Drivers that will be trying to prevent a ninth win for Meagher include Peadar Hurson (Toyota Celica ST205), Eamonn Boland (Subaru WRC), Paul Harris (Subaru Impreza), Tim McNulty (Subaru Impreza), Daniel Doherty (Subaru WRC), Michael Barrable (Toyota Celica ST205), George Cullen (Toyota Celica ST205), Johnny O'Sullivan (Escort WRC) and Liam McCarthy (Toyota Celica).
The event will take place over six stages near Clonmel.
The first stage starts at 11a.m.
Servicing is at the Powerstown Racecourse.
In Mondello tomorrow, the MEC Race Meeting has a number of championship races including Strykers.
Meanwhile, in Croft. Irish drivers, Keith Dempsey and Matthew Griffin contest the latest round of the Formula Renault Championship.
In Snetterton, Alan Dwyer and Philip Kershaw race with the Irish run Status Motorsport team in the Avon Formula Ford series. Northern Ireland trio, Stephen Colbet, Ivor McCullough and Steven Kane are also competing.
