Basketball: McCarthy signs for Manchester Giants

Manchester Giants have announced the signing of Stephen McCarthy.

McCarthy will join fellow ESB player John Leahy to add to coach Mark Ingles' Irish connection.

McCarthy has just completed a season with Neptune where he was a favourite with the fans and considered an anchorman by his team-mates.

"As point guard McCarthy is a well-rounded player," said Ingle.

"His ball control is second to none, he is a sharp shot outside and he's just as keen to take it to the boards. Defensive players don't give him an inch."
