Wimbledon: Ruano Pascual falls to Russian
Virginia Ruano Pascual, the first-round victor of Martina Hingis, was beaten in straight sets by Lina Krasnoroutskaya at Wimbledon.
The 17-year-old Russian won 6-3 7-6 (7-3) to reach the third round as the Spaniard failed to recapture the form that had seen off the number one seed.
Krasnoroutskaya held her first two service games to love and broke to lead 3-1 when Ruano Pascual twice double-faulted and netted a forehand.
Ruano Pascual hit back but lost her serve once again to trail 5-3, and Krasnoroutskaya served out for the set.
A closely contested second set ended with Krasnoroutskaya winning the tiebreak in some style to clinch her place in the third round.
