Formula One: Ralf incurs 10-sec penalty
Coulthard eventually came in at the end of lap 38 at Nurburgring clearly indicating he was on a one-stop strategy with the Schumacher’s likely to be on two-stops.
But Ralf was soon informed he would be making an extra stop that would virtually destroy his hopes of a third career win.
The Austria-based racer incurred a 10-second stop-go penalty having crossed the white line while he exited the pit-lane after his first stop.
That left Schumacher now leading from Montoya by almost nine seconds after 41 laps, with Ralf back in fourth behind Barrichello in the other Ferrari, with Coulthard fifth.
