American Oscar de la Hoya became a five-time world champion when claiming a unanimous decision over Spain’s Javier Castillejo to win the WBC light-middleweight title at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

De La Hoya won 11 of the 12 rounds on all three of the judges’ scorecards and managed to floor the defending champion with five seconds left in the 12th.

De la Hoya took his record to 34-2 as he ended Castillejo’s five-fight reign as champion.

Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines produced a major upset when he stopped South African Lehlohonolo Ledwaba in the sixth round to win the IBF super-bantamweight title.

Agapito Sanchez of the Dominican Republic won the vacant WBO super-bantamweight title with a seventh round stoppage of Colombian Jorge Pabon Monsalvo.
