Athlete's ex-boyfriend attacked himself in racial hoax

Olympic athlete Ashia Hansen's former boyfriend has been found guilty of staging a "race" attack on himself.

It has taken the jury at Birmingham Crown Court four days to reach a verdict on Chris Cotter.

The 29-year-old from Plymouth was stabbed three times in the back and slashed across the forehead.

The prosecution claimed he was desperate to rekindle his romance with the athlete.

He has been cleared of trying to sell the story to a national newspaper.
