Motorsport: Keohane finishes fifth
Michael Keohane, in his Weathermaster/irishmobiles.com/Clonakilty Black Pudding liveried car, finished fifth in the first of the Formula 3 Scholarship Class double header races at Croft today.
The Clonakilty driver, with the Meritus team, qualified third of the Scholarship drivers, behind rivals Matthew Gilmore and Robbie Kerr.
However, just before the race began, he was demoted to the back of the grid by the Clerk of the Course, who claimed Keohane arrived late into the holding area.
Starting his race from the back of the grid, Keohane quickly cut through the back markers and eventually finished fifth, hot on the heels of Justin Sherwood and Matthew Gilmore, who were fourth and third respectively.
The race was won by Mark Mayall with Adam Blair second. Kerr, who led for some 13 laps, went off the track but recovered to finish seventh.
The next race is scheduled to take place at around 3.30pm.
Keohane lines up behind Gilmore and pole sitter, Kerr.
Meanwhile, Formula Ford drivers, James Murphy and Emmet O'Brien failed to qualify for the British Slick 50 Championship race.
