Cork racing ace, Michael Keohane, is his Weathermaster/Clonakilty Black Pudding liveried car has qualified third for the first race in the British F3 Championship Scholarship Class at Oulton Park today.

He is just three tenths of a second behind Scholarship polesitter, Robbie Kerr and a fraction of a second behind Kazuki Hoshino.

Keohane is currently second in the series, behind Mathew Gilmore, who has qualified eighth.

The second qualifying session is timed for 4. 30 this afternoon with tomorrow’s fourth round races at 11. 30 a.m. and 3. 30 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the new look Mondello Park, qualifying for the opening Formula Ford Zetec Championship race of the season sees Alan Dwyer occupying pole from Gordon Coleman, son of legendary rally driver, Billy. Kerry’s, Alan Ring and rising star, Michael Devaney are on the second row.

In rallying, Eamonn Boland (Subaru Impreza WRC), is best of the Irish heading towards the final three stages of Rallye de Wallonie in Belgium.

Fourth overnight, he was promoted to third when David Loix couldn’t start his Subaru WRC. Roy White (Mitsubishi) is eight and both John McCluskey and Tom Holton, both driving Toyota Celicas, are on the fringes of the top ten.

John Newman (Proton) is a little further down the overall classification. Aaron McHale (Honda Civic) was excluded for going OTL.

Colin McRae (Ford Focus) has a 37. 1 second lead going into the final leg of Rally of Argentina. Richard Burns (Subaru) and Carlos Sainz (Ford Focus) are second and third respectively.

Peter Solberg (Subaru WRC) and championship leader, Tommi Makinen (Mitsubishi) complete the top five.
