Max Mosley, head of Formula One's governing body, is calling for the major teams to unite in a bid to avoid a major break-up of the sport.

Mosley's rallying call follows a threat by Europe's big five car makers - Renault, BMW, Mercedes, Fiat (Ferrari's owners) and Ford (the owners of Jaguar) - to set up a rival world championship.
