Circuit of Ireland falls victim to foot-and-mouth

Next month's Circuit of Ireland rally has been postponed due to the foot-and-mouth crisis.

The event was due to take place during the Easter weekend, taking in counties on both sides of the border.

Ulster Automobile Club secretary Tom Watson said the conditions faced by the club made it impossible to run an event in a rural community.

The race was not held last year as it clashed with the Rally of the Lakes in Killarney.
